Karen Howard
Karen Howard, musician and educator, has been teaching music since 1993. In addition to teaching music in Connecticut, Karen presents workshops for colleges, school districts and communities. Some of the countries Karen has studied in are: Ghana, Cuba, Tahiti, Macedonia, Bulgaria and Ireland. She has visited more than 30 countries and music is a key part of every adventure.
Karen has presented workshops ranging from Developing Vocal Music Curriculum to World Music and Dance. Workshop topics include:
- West African Singing, Drumming and Dancing
- Balkan Singing Dances
- Dumbeks in the Classroom
- Traditional Songs and Dances of Tahiti, French Polynesia
- Assessment in the Music Classroom
- Developing a Music Literacy Curriculum
Karen has presented sessions for AOSA, MENC, OAKE as well as other state, national and international organizations.
